Katie Opländer is an artist and print designer.
She completed a BA in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and an MA in Print at the Royal College of Art.
Artist statement:
Within my work I deconstruct and reconstruct impressions from my environment. Playgrounds take central stage in my influences as well as the sculptural quality of natural objects such as stones. The balance between shapes, colours and space is something I like to experiment with in a playful manner.
As an artist I often work with printmaking. Print allows me to work in a controlled process that sometimes produces “errors” through it’s hand-made nature.
As a designer I enjoy the freedom and easy access of working digitally. I strive to work in a way where I’m bridging the gap between art and design, where both my practices flow and feed into each other.
